Suspect Faces Manslaughter Charges for Death of Tulsa Figure
A Tulsa man is behind bars this week on charges of manslaughter for the death of Eric Rollerson in December.
Police placed Shalake Reed under arrest Monday afternoon on charges of first degree manslaughter and driving with a suspended license. He had been driving the pickup at the time he struck and killed Rollerson on Dec. 29.
Prosecutors filed the charges on Feb. 12 at the Tulsa County courthouse.
Previous reports state that Rollerson was crossing the street in the 5400 block of North Lewis. Reed reportedly struck a utility pole after hitting Rollerson and left the scene.
Rollerson was taken to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later. He is remembered for being Tulsa's first African-American mayoral candidate.
Reed is due back in court on Feb. 25.
