Suspicious Device Found in Downtown Tulsa Turns Out to be Bogus

Suspicious device found in downtown Tulsa

A suspicious device caused a scare in downtown Tulsa early Tuesday morning.

The object, which was a box with wires coming out of it with the word "POW" written on it, was found near 12th and Denver around 5:20 a.m. and forced the closure of area streets.

"The bomb squad came out and x-rayed the device, and found that it was bogus," said Tulsa Police Sgt. Brett Bilyeu.

Police are now looking for a suspect, who could face a felony charge.

"Someone set this up intentionally, it was box filled with material and it had 'POW' written on the side, so obviously that caused some legitimate concern," Bilyeu added.
