I can't imagine how hard it was Thursday night for Scott and Sean Sutton. They both coached the ORU men in a game against Northwestern State.
Eddie Sutton was in the arena as well. The empty seat to his left is where his wife Patsy used to sit. She passed away on Tuesday. She had suffered a stroke on December the 28th and had be hospitalized ever since. Her memorial service is Friday afternoon at 2:00pm. It will be held at the First United Methodist Church in downtown Tulsa.
Before the game the crowd observed a moment of silence to honor Pasty.
The Golden Eagles won their game against the Demons, 80-to-74. Damen Bell-Holter led the way for Oral Roberts. He scored 25-points.
"That was a big win and a great win in a lot of different ways," said Coach Scott Sutton. "That was a good team we beat. We knew they were good coming in but I think they are better than advertised. I was proud of our guys. They found a way to win and they continued to get better. Damen continues to play at a very high level and D.J. Jackson came in and other than his turnovers played a heck of a game. As a family, I told [the team] after the game that we really appreciated. We need that in a lot of different ways and they stepped up and got a big win."
The Golden Eagles will face the only other remaining unbeaten SLC team Saturday against Stephen F. Austin. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m. at the Mabee Center.
