Teen, Toddler at Home During Robbery

A 15-year-old was injured during a home invasion this morning.

Officers were called to the home near East Second Street and South Harvard Avenue at 9:30 a.m.

The teen was at home with his 1-year-old sister. He told police that four people broke into the home and stole two televisions, an X-box and some personal items.

The incident prompted several area schools, including Will Rogers, to go on modified lockdown between approximately 9:40 a.m. and 10:10 a.m.

One man had a gun and another had a butterfly-type knife.

The teen received a non-life threatening knife wound to his leg. He left the hospital Tuesday afternoon.

"I drive around. If I see anything, I call the police," said Neighborhood Watch volunteer Charles Fleming. He has been monitoring this neighborhood for more than 20 years.

Police said it is important to contact them if you notice anything out of the ordinary. In this case, there was a white truck parked in the driveway.

"A lot of people will say, 'Well, I don't want to bother you guys. I didn't think, you know, it looked suspicious, but I didn't want to waste you all's time.' No, waste our time. Let us come out there and determine if something's not a way it should be," said Officer Leland Ashley.
