An officer with Tulsa Public Schools remains on paid leave this week after an incident forced him to fire his gun at a vehicle with teens inside.
Administrators with TPS state that the incident took place early Sunday morning outside Eliot Elementary School. The school is located on Brookside near 36th and Peoria.
KTUL was told that that the unidentified officer came upon a parked vehicle with two teenagers inside. No descriptions were provided for the teens or the vehicle that was parked outside the building.
It was when the officer approached the vehicle and began questioning the teens that the situation escalated. TPS stated that the driver of the vehicle allegedly left the area at a high rate of speed and that forced the officer to fire his gun because he felt in danger of being run over.
