If you have procrastinated sending off your holiday packages, don't delay. Time is running out. Today may be the busiest day for the U.S. Postal Service. Workers are expecting to handle 16.5 billion letters, cards and packages over the season.
While the post office has suffered from low volumes in recent years, this holiday season has promised a record breaking increase in shipping, because of consumers shopping online.
You can go online to mail or you packages, or even arrange a pickup time from your front door.
Postal stations will be open on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve. The only deliveries those days will be Express mail, which will cost more than if you had planned ahead.
