Toll Booth Operator Injured In Suspected DUI Crash
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says a toll booth operator was injured when a suspected drunk driver crashed into the booth on the Muskogee Turnpike. It happened shortly after midnight in the southbound lane just south of Muskogee at mile marker 41.
Investigators say a 55 year old man was driving the 2006 Ford Van that crashed into the toll booth. The driver has not been identified. Troopers say he was speeding and intoxicated. He was taken to a hospital with multiple injuries. Investigators say he refused to provide his identification to them.
The toll booth worker is a 59 year old woman from Oktaha. She was flown by Life-Flight helicopter to a Tulsa hospital with serious injuries.
The Oklahoma Turnpike Authority is replacing the toll booth which is causing some lane closures and delays at that location.
