TPD Cracking Down on Speed Violations in Construction Zones

The Tulsa Police Department are honing in on drivers speeding in construction zones in certain Tulsa areas.According to a news release, the Mingo Valley Traffic Unit will be focused on speed violations near the area east of Sheridan Road and south of I-244 this month.Officers will monitor that area at random times to increase the safety of construction zone workers and reduce collisions.Citations issued for speeding in a construction zone ranges from $150 to $500 and no warnings will be issued. Speeders also run the risk of spending up to 10 days in jail.Tulsa Police urge all drivers to remain alert, wear their seat belts, pay attention to signs and refrain from using electronic communication devices.
