TPD Grant Helping To Fight Violent Crimes In Tulsa Neighborhoods

The Tulsa Police Department has received a grant that will help them fight violent crimes in our community.The Attorney General's Safe Oklahoma grant has awarded $625,000 to the department.The money will buy new equipment to reduce crimes such as domestic violence and sex offenses.Officers will also be able to focus on troubled parts of town."What you'll see is not more officers in number, but additional officers on an overtime basis, targeting these gang hot spots," says Leland Ashley, the Public Information Officer for the Tulsa Police Department.Several other law enforcement agencies also received a grant, including the Tulsa County Sheriff's Office.
