Union Pacific Train Cars Derail in Wagoner County

Crews are working to clear up the area where a train derailed late Thursday southeast of Wagoner.

Deputies with the Wagoner County Sheriff's Office were alerted to the situation around 10 p.m. at the intersection of 300 Road and 750 Road.

At the scene they discovered that six empty Union Pacific train cars had jumped the tracks. Officials with UP told KTUL that the train originated in Nebraska and was headed to Arkansas.

Crews worked through the night to open the line for train operations. No injuries were associated with the wreck.

Officials at UP told KTUL that they will continue their investigation into the derailment.
