Trash Catches Fire Inside Tulsa Recycling Plant

A smelly situation unfolds in north Tulsa early Tuesday as fire crews deal with tons of burning trash.Several residents called 911 around 2:00am when they saw smoke coming from Tulsa Recycle and Transfer near 1100 N. Peoria.The facility handles construction waste, cardboard and other recyclable material. Investigators aren't sure what started the blaze. Tulsa Fire spokesperson Stan May speculated that a piece of equipment overheated or the trash had a chemical reaction.There's little damage to the building and no one was hurt.
