The Oklahoma Highway Patrol released the names of the suspect and trooper involved in Monday's fatal shooting.
Trooper Jerrod Martin, 28, was placed on routine paid leave pending the outcome of an investigation into the death of Joshua Stand, 35.
At around 9:45 a.m. Monday, a caller stated that there was a man possibly armed with a knife in the town of Delaware, about 6 miles north of Nowata.
Trooper Martin responded and made contact with Stand. A foot pursuit followed before shots were fired, OHP troopers said.
