With TU's spring game format, the team wearing the blue helmets was composed of the first and second team players. It made for a somewhat lopsided scrimmage to end the spring season.
It also made it easier to showcase TU's "playmakers" on both sides of the ball.
While the spring season is an opportunity to improve one's position on the depth chart, TU head coach Bill Blankenship wants to name his starting quarterback.
According to Blankenship, "We're going to meet with our quarterbacks Monday. We're going to meet with our staff and our team. We're going to announce, 'if we were going to start against Iowa State Saturday, this would be who we want in the lineup.'"
Redshirt junior Cody Green made a compelling argument to be the new starting quarterback this fall. Green completed 8 of 9 passes for 189 yards and 3 TDs.
Green transferred from Nebraska before last season in hopes of having a starting job for 2012. But he denies already having the expectation of starting for the Golden Hurricane.
"I never say I should be this or I should be that," says Green. "But hopefully I've put enough game stuff on film to prove to them I should be going to Ames, Iowa come fall and win a game. But it's up to those guys."
The other quarterback in realistic contention for the starting job is sophomore Kalen Henderson. He completed 8 of 14 passes for 68 yards and a touchdown.
