The Tulsa volleyball squad returns to the NCAA Tournament for the third straight year as the Golden Hurricane will face Florida in a first round matchup on Friday at the Stephen O'Connell Center.
The Conference USA Champion Golden Hurricane (26-9, 14-2 C-USA) will face the No. 14 seeded Gators (25-4, 19-1 SEC) in the first meeting between the two programs.
TU enters the match on the seven-match win streak, and has won 19 of its past 21 tilts. During its seven-match win streak, TU is hitting .262 while foes hold an attack clip of .150. Additionally, TU is averaging 2.23 blocks per set while opponents are only averaging 1.95 blocks per frame.
On the season, Tulsa is hitting .216, while holding opponents to a .169 clip. The Hurricane is averaging 14.49 kills per frame, which ranks 15th nationally. The Hurricane averages 13.48 assists per stanza, the 16th best mark in the country, and 18.02 digs per set, the 13th best clip in the NCAA.
Leading the TU charge is senior outside hitter Tyler Henderson, who ranks first in the nation in points per set with 5.77 per frame and kills per set with a 5.21 mark.
C-USA Libero of the Year Jessica Adams paces the defense averaging 5.20 digs per set, which ranks 42nd nationally.
Junior outside hitter Kellie Culbertson leads the team in service ace per set with a 0.40 clip, which is the 35th best mark in the country. Culbertson is also second on the team in kills per set with 2.60, and digs per set with a 3.44 average. She is one of three TU players to have appeared in every set this year.
Senior outside hitter Diana Silva is third on the team both in kills per set with 2.25 and digs per set with a 3.41 average.
Senior setter Jordan Clampitt leads the team with a 7.79 assists per set clip, while sophomore setter Bailey Clampitt is second with 5.35 assists per frame.
Ashley Hooper paces the team in blocks with a 0.75 blocks per set average and is second in hitting with a .254 clip.
Florida, the SEC regular season champion, enters Friday's contest on a six match-winning streak. The Gators rank fifth in the nation in attack percentage with a .301 clip. Florida averages 14.40 kills per set, 13.14 assists per frame, 14.34 digs per stanza and 2.46 blocks per set. Foes of the Gators are hitting .165 on the year.
UF is led by Chloe Mann, who ranks fifth in the country in attack percentage with a .437 clip. Ziva Recek leads the team with a 4.05 kills per set average. The Gator defense is anchored by Taylor Unroe, who leads the team in digs with a 4.43 clip.
The victor of the Tulsa/Florida match will face the winner of the Miami (Fla.)/College of Charleston in a second round matchup on Saturday, December 1 at 6 p.m. (CT). The winner of that match will move on to play in the Round of 16 in Austin, Texas.
