Four Tulsa players scored in double figures to lead the Golden Hurricane to a 90-67 win over Newman in an exhibition contest on Sunday night at the Donald W. Reynolds Center."I thought when we got out and pushed the ball, we looked really good," Head Coach Matilda Mossman said. "There was a 12-minute lapse in the first half where we didn't get any transition baskets so we have to continue to run the floor. We were trying to figure out the puzzle of who plays best with whom. We even got everyone in in the first half and second half. In the first half we got everyone in even at the expense of giving up a lead. We found some groups tonight that we really, really liked. It is now a matter of putting them together again against Rogers State and see if they can duplicate that."Freshman Liesl Spoerl had a team-leading 16 points and eight rebounds, sophomore Ashley Clark added 13 points, freshman Stevi Parker totaled 11 points and sophomore Jasmine Vasquez recorded 10 points in the contest. Freshman point guard Erika Lane had a team-best eight assists, while Kelsee Grovey earned three steals. The Golden Hurricane had a 15-point lead at halftime (48-33) and climbed to a game-high 23-point advantage to end the game. TU had 38 points in the paint, 53 points from the bench, 23 points off turnovers and 16 points off of fast breaks.Tulsa shot 44-percent from the field, 35-percent from three-point range and 63-percent from the line. The Golden Hurricane had a 52-39 advantage in rebounds, while both teams finished with nine steals.Tulsa will play another preseason contest on Friday, Nov. 1st against Rogers State.
