Tuberculosis Confirmed in McAlester
The Pittsburg County Health Department is notifying people they may have been exposed to Tuberculosis after one person tested positive in McAlester.
Officials said they have notified people who may have come in contact with the person at William Gay Early Childhood Center.
The Health Department will provide at-risk individuals with medications.
Officials will answer questions at a public forum at 6 p.m. tonight at the Health Department, 1400 E. College Ave. in McAlester.
Symptoms may include feeling weak or sick, weight loss, fever and night sweats. Persons with TB of the lung may have complaints of cough, chest pain, and/or coughing up blood. Other symptoms depend on the particular part of the body that is affected, according to the State Health Department's Website.
