Tulsa Adds 16 Police Officers

16 new officers were sworn in on Friday.

The Tulsa Police department welcomed 16 new officers on Friday.

The recruits graduated from the training academy and will officially join the force as officers in training.

The recruits began the 27-week training in October. The course included lessons on legal, firearms, defensive tactics, driver's training, report writing and officer survival.

The new officers will complete a 16-week training program with field training officers in each of the department's patrol systems.

After completion of field training, the new officers will be assigned to fill vacancies in the patrol divisions.
