Another company in Tulsa has pledged to donate money to help fund A Gathering Place this week.
Officials with Magellan Midstream Partners announced the company would be donating $5 million over 10 years to help fund the new park. It will be located in midtown Tulsa along the Arkansas River.
According to a press release the $5 million contribution will be commemorated at the park's Outdoor Terraces which will feature Magellan's name. The terraces will sit immediately to the east side of the Lodge within a large stand of trees and will offer outdoor seating.
"This will be a special place for our employees, their families and all Tulsans. We are honored to be a part of this visionary project," Magellan President and CEO Mike Mears said. "Magellan has been very fortunate in our history and we are proud of the community in which we are headquartered."
Officials with A Gathering Place told KTUL last week that construction would begin this summer. At the beginning of February construction crews demolished the Blair Mansion along Riverside Drive to make way for the park.
Other contributors include QuikTrip and the Chapman Foundation. The first phase of the park is being funded by the George Kaiser Family Foundation and other private donors.
