The Tulsa County District Attorney's Office and Verizon Wireless are partnering to collect no-longer-needed cell phones and give them to domestic violence victims.
The project, dubbed DAs against DV, will accept equipment from any wireless carrier at the district attorney's office downtown and at two of its satellite offices in Tulsa.
Verizon's HopeLine program supplies Domestic Violence Intervention Services with phones and free wireless and text messaging services so victims can call family, friends or emergency assistance.
Any phones collected that can't be repurposed will be sold and proceeds donated to domestic violence prevention organizations in the form of HopeLine grants.
