Several school kids began their Thursday morning by planting trees at a local Tulsa elementary school.
Students at Chouteau Elementary School planted five trees Thursday as part of an opportunity to learn about the health benefits of trees on school campuses.
Following the tree planting the students went back inside and hand-make clay tree ornaments in their art classes to benefit Up With Trees' continuing efforts in planting school, park and other public places.
According to a release from the school earlier this week, Each ornament will have a tag indicating what the donation will provide -- for example: $100 to help a tree survive the drought, or $300 to help water newly planted trees at a school over the hot summer months.
This year's "Giving Tree" at the Up With Trees Green Leaf Gala will feature these beautiful hand-crafted, tree ceramic ornaments made by the children at Chouteau Elementary. Students at Chouteau have enjoyed the newly cast shade of more than 80 trees planted on campus over the last two years.
