The Tulsa Fire Department is hosting a fire day camp today for young women between 15-20 years old.
"The camp is a hands on program to introduce young women to advantages and challenges of a career in firefighting," said Stan May with TFD.
Camp instructors will be female and will be able to answer questions young women with an interest in a firefighting career might have.
Participants will do the following:
-a physical agility course
-use firefighting bunker gear
-use a self-contained breathing apparatus
-use ladders, hoses and firefighting tools
-participate in CPR and EMS drills
-tour Station 4
The camp will be held at the Tulsa Fire Department Training Academy at 1760 New Block Park Drive from 9 a.m.-4 p.m.
