Tulsa Fire Leaves 16 Families Without a Home, No Injuries Reported

An early morning fire Wednesday leaves 16 South Tulsa families without a home for the night.

It happened at the Eagle Point Apartments on 71st Street. Emergency crews responded to the fire around 1:30 a.m.

Tulsa Fire Department's Stan May told that the electrical fire started between the first and second floor, traveled up through the outside wall and into the attic.

May said eight units were heavily affected by the damage. Investigators are now looking into the cause of the fire. Fortunately, no one was hurt. The Red Cross is helping those families who were impacted by the fire. Commissioner Doak will also be meeting with the families affected by the fire and discussing the importance of renters insurance at 1 p.m.
