Today the Tulsa Fraternal Order of Police donated a $15,000 check to the Law Enforcement Torch Run, which supports Special Olympics Oklahoma.
The donation will fund approximately 75 Special Olympics Oklahoma athletes, which includes money for training, equipment and travel.
The Law Enforcement Torch Run is a fundraising entity across the country and internationally that helps raise money through police officers for the Special Olympics.
The money came from dues from both retired and active Tulsa Police officers.
"We're proud to be a part of that and be able to fund those athletes," Clay Ballenger, president of the Tulsa Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) said.
"Being able to see their face and knowing that we're a part of it is a pretty good feeling. There's nothing more rewarding," Ballenger said.
