Tulsa Man Booked for Attempted Rape in Sand Springs
A Tulsa man was arrested over the weekend in Sand Springs on accusations that he attempted to rape a woman at her apartment.Sand Springs police officers arrested 23-year-old Andrew Jacob Layman last Friday and booked him on a felony complaint of sexual battery.KTUL's community newspaper partner, the Sand Springs Leader, reported that the victim told officers that that her boyfriend had some friends over, including Layman. Sometime in the evening, an argument ensued when the victim became upset with Layman and asked him to leave the apartment.After they went outside, the victim said she locked the door, but the assailant was able to force his way back into the apartment, officers said.The victim told the officers the next memory she had was waking up with Layman on top of her, ripping her clothes and trying to rape her. The victim struggled with him and was able to escape and contact police, according to the booking report.When officers arrived, they observed the victim's shirt was ripped and her pants were ripped open in the crouch area, officers said.Layman was arrested and transferred to Tulsa County Jail.
