Tulsa Man Pleads Guilty in 2013 Grand Lake Fatal Boating Accident

      John DeSelms Mugshot

A Tulsa man entered a blind plea of guilty, Wednesday afternoon, during a hearing for a boating accident on Grand Lake, last year. He is facing manslaughter charges.

Prosecutors allege John Stuart Deselms was operating a boat under the influence when it crashed into another boat in May 2013. The crash killed University of Arkansas students Trey Varner and Rachel Swetnam.

DeSelms is scheduled for sentencing on December 29, 2014 at the Delaware County Courthouse.

KTUL previously reported that officers described in their investigation that Deselms told them that he had 10 beers, a tequila shot and an antidepressant before the deadly collision.
