Arson to Blame for 15th Street Office Building Fire

Fire scene near 15th and Lewis

Investigators stated arson was to blame for a midtown office building that went up in flames early Monday morning.

Tulsa Fire Department's Stan May told that firefighters arrived at the scene near 2600 E 15th Street around 5:45 a.m. and saw heavy flames shooting from the building.

May said that it took crews about 15 minutes to get the flames under control. The fire destroyed a vacant area of the building that was set to be leased and left the rest of the building with heavy smoke damage.

Investigators at the scene reported Monday that an arson canine found possible accelerants and a cinder block had been thrown through the window of the building.

During the fire, the department closed 15th Street east and west bound for a couple of hours because of all the emergency trucks in the road. No injuries were reported.

Anyone with information about the fire should call 596-ARSN (2776).
