Suspect in Fatal Tulsa Shopping Center Shooting Arrested

Police have taken into custody a man accused of fatally shooting another outside of a Tulsa shopping center Wednesday evening.

Tulsa Police arrested Yantis Young for reportedly shooting and killing Steven Harris outside the Gilcrease Hills Shopping Center. Paramedics were called out to the scene before 7:30 p.m.

Officials with TPD's Homicide Unit told KTUL that Young and Harris had been involved in an altercation earlier in the day. Both met up outside a store in the shopping center where the disagreement continued and escalated into the shooting.

Harris was shot through the front passenger side window of his Chevrolet Tahoe, according to the release from TPD. He was 39-years-old.

Detectives were able to identify Young's vehicle with the help of surveillance footage and security guards for the shopping center. Agents with the Northern Oklahoma Violent Crimes Task Force located the vehicle but did not find Young inside.

During the search for him, Young contacted a bondsman who notified deputies with the Tulsa County Sheriff's Office. The bondsman convinced Young to turn himself into authorities.

Young was booked into the Osage County Jail for first degree murder complaints.
