Tulsa Police Officer Pleads Not Guilty To Murder Charge
Tulsa police officer Shannon Kepler has pleaded not guilty to first degree murder in the shooting death of his daughter's boyfriend.
Kepler appeared by video for his arraignment Tuesday morning. The judge set a preliminary hearing for October 22nd.
19-year-old Jeremey Lake was shot outside his house on N. Maybelle on August 5th.
Kepler is a 24-year-veteran officer who is also charged with one count of shooting with intent to kill because prosecutors say he shot at his daughter during the alleged confrontation in which Lake was killed. Kepler was off-duty at the time.
Kepler's wife, Gina, is also a police officer. She was arrested on a complaint of being an accessory after the fact of murder, but prosecutors declined to file charges against her saying there is not enough evidence at this time to support a charge.
