Tulsa Run Takes Off With Kim Jackson's Community Runners
By Kim Jackson
The Tulsa Run took off with thousands of runners. Many took part in the traditional 15k Run, but first more than three thousand runners dashed off in the 5k run through downtown Tulsa. For the past five years, Channel 8's Kim Jackson has led a community couch to 5k training for residents who want to become more healthy. Kim was moved by studies that showed some zip codes had citizens that were dying 14 years younger, because of obesity and chronic illness. This year Kim partnered with Metropolitan Baptist Church and the fitness ministry there, to accomplish the mission of her community couch to 5k effort. This morning, she took her own phone camera and captured stories of some runners and video of memories they will all share.
