A Tulsa family is happy their husband and father is home from Afghanistan.
Sgt. Major George Pettis was greeted by his wife and two young sons at Tulsa International Airport Thursday afternoon.
He's home from a nearly year-long deployment.
He volunteered to go with a National Guard unit from New York that was short one member.
"I feel great to be home, it's been a long time," said Pettis as he choked back tears.
His wife Katie says, "I'm so proud of him, it's very hard at times."
This was his third deployment overseas.
Pettis says he looks forward to spending time with his family and getting involved with his sons sporting events and cub scout group.
