Tulsa's YWCA selects native Tulsan for the position of CEO, Tuesday.
They selected Vanessa Finley as their next chief executive officer. A non-profit executive with more than 20 years' experience, Ms. Finley is a native Tulsan who will relocate from Kansas City and will assume her role on July 14, 2014.
"We conducted a nationwide search and considered a long slate of qualified candidates for this position. We looked for a person that met specific criteria - someone with passion for our mission, outstanding leadership that fit our organization and community, as well as a strategic understanding of non-profits with the capability to build momentum and value for Tulsa. We are confident that Vanessa is the right leader for the job," stated Shelly Holden, chair of the Search Committee and president-elect of the YWCA's board.
Finley says, "Forwarding the mission at YWCA Tulsa as the next CEO is a natural step in my career, where I have spent the last 20 years working in the areas of poverty elimination, racial justice, and women's rights. All of my work in Kansas City has led to this amazing opportunity to return to my hometown. My family and I could not be more excited."
Finley will succeed Felicia Collins Correia who announced her retirement in August 2013.
