The body of an unidentified man was discovered in Sequoyah County Thursday evening.

According to the Sequoyah County Sheriff's Office, around 4 p.m. yesterday, the body of an unidentified man was found in Sallisaw Creek.

The body had no identification and there is no one reported missing matching the description in Sequoyah County. According to the sheriff's office, the body has been in the creek for one or two weeks.

The body was removed and transported to the medical examiners office in Tulsa and then sent to Oklahoma City. Results on the cause of death will not be known until next week.

Authorities stated the body is of a white male with short brown hair and between 25-35 years of age. The man is described as being about 5'7"-5'10" and weighing about 180 to 210 lbs.

The man was discovered wearing only blue jeans and an extra large turquoise t-shirt tied around his waist. What deputies thought was unusual was that the man was only wearing gray, slip resistant socks that are commonly issued in hospitals.
