University of Tulsa Loses Third Member of 2007 Football Class

The University of Tulsa is mourning the passing of Anthony Germany, a member of the 2007 football team who passed away Tuesday, university officials confirm."Our thoughts and prayers are with Anthony's family and his teammates during this terrible time," said TU head coach Bill Blankenship.Germany was a defensive back for the Golden Hurricane from 2004 to 2007, starting 36 games. As a senior, Germany was second on the team in tackles for losses (14) and sacks (3).Germany is the third member of the 2007 football team who passed away within the past eight months. Former offensive lineman Wilson Holloway died in February after a three-year battle with Hodgkin's lymphoma. And, last month, former linebacker George Clinkscale died after taking part in an unsanctioned boxing match at GUTS Church."After the loss of Wilson (Holloway), George (Clinkscale) and now Anthony within the last eight months, we realize how life is so fragile," Blankenship says. "These were three young men in their early 20s with bright futures ahead of them, and their lives taken so suddenly. It is heartbreaking."Germany signed with TU after a terrific high school career at defensive back and wide receiver at Putnam City, including a trip to the Class 6A state semifinals in his senior season.
