It's already hot and humid. And this is just the beginning! The Tulsa Metro area is expected to experience hot, humid, and summer-like conditions for the rest of the week and into the weekend. The average high temperature for this time of year is 84 degrees. But many places will experience temperatures in the low to mid 90s over the next several days. In fact, temperatures are expected to be 10 to 15 degrees above normal. Heat index values are predicted to be in the upper 90s to low 100s! And low temperatures are only expected to drop to the low to mid 70s which will provide little relief from the heat at night.
This kind of heat is not common for early June. With the heat coming early this year, people may be caught off guard and they could be more susceptible to heat related illnesses. It's best to limit outside activity over the next few days. It's also important to wear light colored and loose fitting clothes as well as to stay hydrated. People should limit their alcohol and caffeine intake and drink plenty of water. Also, do not leave children and pets in locked vehicles as temperatures can reach dangerous levels fast.
So, enjoy the hot weather by swimming in a pool. Stay cool!
