Unsettled Pattern Into The Weekend
After a wet start to the week it appears we are back on the storm track. Over the next 8 days the potential for showers and storms will be going up across Green Country.
The latest round of storms will begin in far western Oklahoma this afternoon and tonight, some could become severe. After midnight the cold front will move closer to eastern Oklahoma. Showers and storms will arrive early in the morning and another round will move through during the early afternoon hours. Severe storms are unlikely across eastern Oklahoma but an isolated strong storm is possible.
The set up Saturday and Sunday for storm development looks much different. Gusty south winds Saturday will prime the pump pushing more moisture our way. While the chance for storms is low Saturday, around 20% any storms that do develop could be strong, even severe.
Sunday the chance for showers and storms is even higher. Right now the severe storm threat is only a slight risk but that's because the system hasn't even arrived on the west coast. As it stands, showers and storms are expected to be more widespread and the threat of severe weather is possible Sunday. However, there are still a lot of ??? About the timing and severe storm threat concerning this system for our area. Over the next couple of days we will have a better idea what this system will do, so keep checking back for updates.
