Venezuelans and others gathered at Guthrie Green today at 2 p.m. for a zumba class to help raise money and awareness for the current political and social unrest in Venezuela.
Ariane Betancourt, a zumba instructor, is Venezuelan and she said she is really worried for Venezuela.
High school and college students are protesting the government in Venezuela, trying to raise their voice and make the world aware as to the unjust economic situation there, but some have been arrested and tortured.
Some Venezuelans in Tulsa still have family in Venezuela, and are doing what they can to raise money to send first aid kits, food and water to those affected.
"We don't want to just raise money," Betancourt said. "We want to spread our voice and raise awareness."
