Extreme winds across the area will continue throughout the morning and early afternoon hours. In Tulsa, several power outages were reported over the 41st and Garnett area due to the high winds. A few trees have been reported down as well.
Here's the forecast for today from meteorologist Andrew Kozak:
Happy Friday eve! Looks like a busy weather forecast is ahead of us- especially with the holiday coming up next week. By the way, we tied a record high yesterday in Tulsa- 70 degrees! .. before cooling rapidly overnight.
Today: Gradual clearing, very windy and chilly. Winds: N 25-35 mph. Gusts to 45+ possible. High in Tulsa: 45
Tonight: Clear, windy and cold. Winds: NW 10-25 mph. Low in Tulsa: 26
A mostly sunny weekend is in store, before all eyes focus on early next week. Right now, there is little consistency in the computer models, but as we continue to look at the very latest info, it seems as though Christmas day could be more wet then white. A chance for a few showers throughout the day, with cold air making its way into the state overnight into next Wednesday. This *could* mean a changeover to a wintry mix come Wednesday the 26th. We will keep you informed with the very latest throughout the day!
