Wanted Man Arrested after Six-Hour Tulsa Standoff
Officers were called out to the Tulsa Select Inn Motel around 8 p.m. Friday evening to serve felony arrest warrants on Jason H. Armstrong, 29.
While they were trying to arrest him, Armstrong, wanted out of Rogers County with felony warrants, allegedly called police dispatch and threatened to blow up the motel, located at 5000 East Skelly Drive, if officers did not leave.
A special operations team was contacted and made entry into the suspect's room, which he had reportedly tried to barricade with furniture. Officers found no explosives on scene.
The man was taken into custody at Rogers County Jail on warrants for child abuse and domestic violence in the presence of a minor.
The standoff reportedly lasted from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. and two floors of the hotel were evacuated.
Ryan Perkins of the Tulsa Police Department reported that the suspect had self-inflicted wounds on his wrists and had apparently tried to hang himself.
