Is your mail carrier running late these days? If so, you're not alone.
The U.S. Postal Service reveals that its mail carriers are missing their evening delivery deadlines, according to a new report.
The biggest problem areas? Atlanta, Washington, D.C., Richmond, and Arlington, Virginia. That's where mail is being delivered later than 5 p.m. about 70% of the time. The report points out that mail carriers are putting their lives in danger with the later deliveries. That's because mail is being delivered after dark, especially in winter.
The postal agency's goal is to complete deliveries before 5 p.m. 95% of the time.
The missed deadlines are being blamed on cost-cutting measures, which are leading to a shrinking work force.
