Woman Dies From Injuries in Monday's Midtown Shooting

Tulsa Police have identified the two victims in who died after being shot yesterday afternoon.

21-year-old Verdell Walker was shot and killed near 4700 S. Darlington Ave. The 22-year-old woman who was found at the scene died earlier this afternoon. She has been identified as Tiara Sawyer.

Due to numerous witness reports that were provided to the responding officers a suspect was identified and a suspect vehicle was determined to be a gold Honda CRV.

Detectives, patrol and crime analysts worked on the suspect's name given and determined that there was another location for the suspect's family in Jenks.

Jenks Police Department sent officers to a location in the 700 block of S Gum Street. Quickly they reportedly were joined by members of the Northern Oklahoma Violent Crimes Task Force and surveillance was maintained on the residence.

Detectives determined that there was enough evidence to arrest 22-year-old Isaac Ashton.

"Patience paid off as Ashton called an unsuspecting family member to give him a ride from the Gum address," says Sgt. Walker. "The Jenks Police and Agents with the Northern Oklahoma Violent Crimes Task Force stopped the vehicle and arrested Ashton without incident."

Interviews were conducted and search warrants were prepared with the assistance of the Tulsa County Sheriff's Office. There is reportedly enough evidence collected to arrest Ashton for two counts of First Degree Murder.

Tulsa Homicide investigators say both Sawyer and Walker lived together and associated with Ashton in the past.
