Veteran with no 'family' laid to rest
Oklahoma City (KTUL) —
After no family came forward to claim one Oklahoma veteran's body, another family stepped into place.
Air Force veteran Mark Howell was laid to rest on Thursday with full military honors.
Howell joined the Air Force back 1983 as a computer programmer and was stationed at Tinker Air Force Base. When he left the service just two short years later, he stayed - making Oklahoma his home.
His health declined, and Howell died on April 22.
His body went unclaimed so OK Cremation and Funeral Home stepped in.
A request for anyone to come to the funeral went viral.
The request didn't go unheard - and hundreds of veterans, now family, turned up to honor their fallen comrade.
