Waiting Child: Going live with Payton

Payton got an up close and personal look at channel 8 which is exactly what he wanted. (KTUL)

Keith began Payton’s tour of the KTUL studio at the perfect time, just before the start of a newscast! Payton was surprised to actually participate in the newscast; he helped master control give a countdown.

Payton got an up close and personal look at channel 8 which is exactly what he wanted. While he enjoyed all the bells and whistles, what was his favorite part of the station? Seeing Clint Boone give his weather forecast was at the top of his list, “We got to see where he worked out the weather and there was a really good view out the back.”

At each stop he asked all the right questions and came across everyone as a very smart and polite young man. He may be young, but he knows what’s really important. “To grow up and be a respectful person. You get the things you need or the things you want in your life,” explained Payton.

He wants to be a welder after he graduates from high school. “It’s a hands on job where I can put together and create things.” He got a first-hand opportunity to weld when he carved out his initials with a torch and assist in putting together a boat.

Payton knows what it takes to build the right kind of family, he says, “I want a married couple, a mom and dad to live out in the country with. A family that likes to be active. A respectful family that has kids and animals.”
