Waiting Child: Teeing off with Kee'onal

It was a beautiful day at the All Sports Complex at 61st and Highway 169 when 15 year-old Kee’onal tried out miniature golf for the first time. Kee’onal says, “I always thought golf was boring, but miniature golf is a lot of fun!”

Golf may be high on his list for now, but basketball is his favorite game, it’s where he’s the most competitive. Surprisingly, the Thunder are not his favorite team. “All my friends are Cavalier fans.” A stunned Keith Taylor asks, “Oh really? You only hang out with Cavs fans?”

“No, I hang out with OKC fans, or Raptor fans, or anybody else. Most of my friends like the Cavaliers though.”

Kee’onal will be 16 in November. He already has big plans down to the minute, “I’m going to have a party around 7 o’clock till around 9. Before that, I’m going to hang out with my friends, probably see a movie. Go to the mall, but some clothes and some shows.”

Shoes are a big deal to Kee’onal. I like shoes. That’s a big part of my personality, my shoes. They reflect how I usually act. If I’m in sweat pants and slides I’m lazy. If I’m in high fashion Prada’s and button up shirt, I’m going somewhere important after school.”

Keith asked Kee’onal if he has thought about getting adopted, “Yes I’ve given it a lot of thought. I can live with a single or a married couple. It doesn’t matter, but we have to have the same interests. We cannot be opposites.”
