Decision regarding top Bixby school officials expected this week
BIXBY, Okla. (BIXBY) —
The Bixby School board is expected to make a decision about a sexual assault investigation allegedly involving high school football players and top school officials, who may have failed to report it in a timely manner.
“We did make a statement on that, and we’ll keep our word on that,” said Bixby School Board President, Ron Schnare on Dec. 14.
During a regularly scheduled BOE meeting, Schnare promised that a decision will be made this week. According to police and court documents, the Superintendent, high school principal, athletic director and the football coach are being investigated for potentially failing to report child sexual abuse.
However, Schnare hasn’t expanded on what the decision may be.
Schnare referenced a statement given to media on Dec. 7, saying the decision will “reflect the beginning of an ongoing disciplinary and internal evaluation process necessary for us to fully address the situation now and in the future.”
When the school board makes the decision, it will be during a special meeting. The board hasn’t announced a date yet.
