2 men arrested for New Year's Eve murder behind south Tulsa church
TULSA, Okla. (KTUL) -- Two people were arrested this week out of state in connection with Tulsa's last murder of 2016.
On New Year's Day, the body of Perry Wallace was found behind Victory Christian Center. Police believe he was shot and killed the day before.
Investigators say they focused on Wallace's illegal activities involving guns, drugs and stolen property, linking him to Corey Phorn and Jeremy Harper.
Police say they connected Phorn and Harper to a stolen car in which Wallace was seen the day he was killed. The car was later recovered in Muskogee.
On Wednesday, police say the Tulsa County District Attorney's Office issued first-degree murder warrants for both men who police had been tracking while they gathered enough evidence for arrests.
Phorn was arrested that same day in Bastrop, Texas. Harper was arrested Thursday in Joshua Tree, Calif.
Police say more arrests are possible.
Wallace's was Tulsa's 82nd homicide of 2016. Only three remain open though investigators say they have developed suspects for each case.
