A house in north Tulsa caught fire overnight and killed two people.

Fire crews responded around 12:30 a.m. Tuesday to the home on East 27th Court near M.L.K. Jr. Boulevard, just south of the Gilcrease Expressway. Firefighters say the flames were so aggressive that they couldn't get into the home until the fire was out. They later found a man and woman dead in the home.

"It’s obvious that they are deceased," District Chief Bryan Hickerson said. "With the amount of flames that we had on scene, it’s very unlikely that anybody would have survived it.”

The couple's two children, a teenager and a 20-year-old, were not home at the time, according to the fire department.

"We did enter it and did a quick search... [We] did not locate a victim, but as we got farther into the incident, the situation to where we could look through it a little more thoroughly, we called a secondary search, and that's where we located the two victims," said Hickerson.

Both neighbors and firefighters say they heard explosions coming from the home.

Firefighters say the family of four moved into the house about three weeks ago.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
