BIXBY, Okla. (KTUL) -- The Bixby School Board is looking to the community for input as they look for their next public school superintendent.

Bixby Public Schools is teaming up with the Oklahoma State School Boards Association for the search.

An online survey will be posted on the school district's website for parents, school employees and other community members to share what qualities they believe are important for the next superintendent to possess.

The survey will be available from Jan. 29 to Feb. 9.

Bixby School Board President Ron Schnare said board members will use information collected from the survey to help make their decision.

“Selecting a superintendent is an important decision for the children, educators and families we serve and the community as a whole,” Schnare said. “We are blessed with a community that embraces the school district and is highly engaged in the education of our children. I’m hopeful everyone interested in the school district’s continued success will share their thoughts through the survey."

The board will be taking applications for about five to six weeks until they start the interviewing process. They hope to begin interviewing candidates mid-March and hire a new superintendent in March or April.
