Broken Arrow businesses host community-wide weight loss challenge
BROKEN ARROW, Okla. (KTUL) -- Broken Arrow businesses are hosting a community-wide six-week weight loss challenge where the top three winners will take home a cash prize.
Chris Chambers has been with the Broken Arrow Police Department for 17 years, and last year, he decided to make a personal change.
"I've lost 25 pounds," Chambers said.
Chambers started working with Christen Frost, co-owner of Nutrition Spot, to get back on track.
"They help us out; they give us evaluations, workout classes and help us get healthier," Chambers said. "The weight didn't get on immediately, it is not going to come off immediately. I'd like to lose 40 more."
Chambers is hoping a community-wide weight loss program will help.
"It is a $25 registration fee and that money turns around and goes to the top three winners," Christen Frost of Nutrition Stop said.
Frost has faced her own weight troubles.
"I was 325 and thought I could not do this," Frost said. "I am down 72 pounds, and I am a better mother to my children, a better wife to my husband and a better citizen to my community."
"You get free one-on-one coaching, we do meal plans, snack lists, we want to help you buy the right things at the grocery store and we have a complimentary fit camp," Frost said.
The goal is "[t]o change the obesity, happiness and health of the community," Frost said.
People of all ages and sizes can join the program.
Participants must sign up by 5 p.m. on Monday.
You can sign up at Nutrition Stop or Turn 2 Nutrition in Broken Arrow.
The free fit camp is every Monday and Wednesday at Nienhuis Park Community Center at 6:30 p.m.
