Man dies after being trapped in Broken Arrow fire

Broken Arrow firefighters say a man has died after being pulled from his burning home.

The fire began around 9:30 p.m Wednesday at an apartment near Elm and Broadway. Firefighters say when they arrived, one unit was filled with smoke and heavily damaged.

Jerry Lewis, 63, was trapped inside. Crews were able to get in and rescue him, but he later died at the hospital, according to the Broken Arrow Police Department.

Firefighters were forced to evacuate four other units around the building. Those apartments have minor damage.

Crews are still investigating the cause of the fire.
