Dozens of people showed up to Washington Irving Park in Bixby Monday morning to commemorate the 16th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks in New York.

The Remembrance Ceremony is being held in front of a piece of twisted steel from the wreckage of the World Trade Center. The Friends of Irving Foundation placed the steel therein 2002 and later added 12 granite markers that trace the events of the tragedy.

The ceremony will include the presentation of the American Flag, the Pledge of Allegiance, patriotic songs, a silent prayer of remembrance and the ringing of the bells.
